RE: Mustang Electrical Troubleshooting
That was a good read. I cut and pasted this for all the guys that love the Painless wiring harnesses.
The wiring harnesses are about as modular as you can get. Each section plugs into the others to handle all electrical functions. Rarely does a section need to be replaced. If it does, installing a new one is a plug-and-play situation. New replacement harnesses are the only way I recommend rewiring a stock or mostly stock '65-'73 Mustang.

RE: Mustang Electrical Troubleshooting
That's great info, but it didn't mention the most difficult electrical problem I had in my Mustangs. The headlights would turn off after driving for a while. If I shut them off for a few minutes they would work again but only for a little while. I thought it was the switch so I swapped the switch from another Mustang that wasn't having the same issue, but the problem persisted. After checking every wire and connection in the lighting electrical system I broke down and replaced the switch. That fixed the problem. It turns out there is a bi-metal fuse link inside the switch that will break the circuit if it over heats and then will close again after cooling. I never did diagnose why my car was pulling extra current, but the new switch has worked great ever since.
