so you guys think i should build another 302, but a 331 or 347 stroker, with a solid roller cam and lets say atleast 10.5:1 compression. I was thinking AFR185 heads. Im leaning more toward a 331 stroker only because it will increase the life of the motor and will rev quicker. I have read that the 347's create alot more strain and dont last nearly as long, which does make sense. Do you think that i would be able to see 450 +hp out of a 331 stroker with good heads and a radical solid roller cam?
Thanks
Matt

Oh and by the way, my tranny and rearend are built to handle it, so that isnt a problem.

I would have to run some numbers at the office, but I think 450 out of a 331 stroker is going to be pushing it. Your main problem at that level is going to be splitting the block and trashing the rods. When you get serious about horsepower, you run into several problems. Block strength, main strength, connection rod strength, rod bolt strength, and matching your horsepower numbers without exceeding the feet perminute max for your piston speed. Much above 400, you are getting into aftermarket block and forged everything territory if you want it to last.

I am halfway thru building a 383 stroker with 4340 crank, 4340 rods, forged pistons, arp everything, dart sportsman block, and AFR 205 heads. I am shooting for 450-475 with a 280ish duration roller cam. Redline should be about 7k with peak horsepower at 6k-6250. It is kinda a perpetual motion machine when you start switch parts out to handle big power.

If you are serious about getting up that high, Dart makes a really nice sportsman block for both the 351 and 302. The 351 has either a 9.2 cleveland deck or a 9.5 windsor deck. Both have Cleveland mains. The 302 is basically a really beefy 302. They are capabable of extreme bores (4.125 I think), have priority oiling, are machined for strokers, and have enough material to hold 1000-1200hp. There is a BIG difference between stock blocks and what Dart makes. If you put them side by side, you can see how people grenade the stock stuff. I know Ford Racing also makes something in that level and so does World. Check them out if you are serious about getting int the 450hp area.

Im planning on going to the track on wends and was wondering if any of you had an idea of waht kind of time i should run.
Here are my specs:
Its a 69 Mustang coupe
302 block, stock crank and rods, speed pro hypertuenic pistons(9 to 1 compression) running on 107 octane.
Comp cams extreme energy 268 camshaft. Intake duration/lift- 268/509 exhaust duration/lift- 280/512.
Ported heads with larger valves. 1.94 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves.
Edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock 650cfm carb.
Mallory electronic igntion system.
long tube headers
50/50 shocks in the back with 5 layer leafsprings.
90/10 shocks in the front.
I have a c4 tranny with a manual/automatic valvebody and a 2500 stall converter. 3.55 gears in the back.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Matt

your fully capable of low 13's my 66 hasa similar set up I have forged flat top light weight pistons and 69oe heads with 1.94/1.50 valves and a 500/500 crane fireball cam, roller rockers, rpm air gap intake and 650 double pumper with a t-5 tranny and 3.50 gears and on street tires I ran 13.69@103 mph.... so with sticky tires low 13's are a breeze for me....just ditch the 107 gas..it ain't helpin you with only 9 to 1 compression
