I found this article and figured it would help out alot.. Especially if you want to see what a 16 or 17 inch tire looks like on a 69 Fastback

This area can be mystifying to a lot of people when trying to find a wheel that fits. Good find and it should be in the FAQ's.

the writeup in the FAQ section is not the same one.. That one is all about putting newer mustang rims on a classic with spacers.. and what fits..

I have Foose 17" rims on my 68 fastback now. 9" on the rear and 8" on the front.
Backspacingon the the rear is 5.25" and on the front is 4.5". Front is no problem with
clearance on the fender and the upper control arm. The rears fit under the guard
but with 255 tyres it is a bit close. On the inside ofthe rim there is at least an inch clearance
to the body, so if I was to do this again I would go with 5.5" backspacing on the rear. But its
not so bad, as the rears will only hit when the suspension bottoms out and that will
not happen with the 4 1/2 leaf rear springs.
