Im gunna take a guess its for your vacuum advance so should connect to the distributor

I believe it is an autolite 2100/2150.

It could hook to a flapper on the original air cleaner for cold/hot air intake.

Well, it's not a vacuum advance (too high on carb) Am I correct that it is part of the verticle tube looking piece behind the choke? It appears to be a vent that dumps into the air cleaner from...a vapor can maybe?

That'sthe choke clean air tube, it will connect to the inside of the stock air filter, on the neweropen filtersI believe it's just left open. If you have a vacuum advance you hook the yellow line (should be the top connector on the distributor vacuum control valve)into the outlet under the choke, just above the base.

aye. it's an autolite 2100.
I have the same carb and I left it open as well.
it's the clean air hookup for the choke. it goes to the inside of the aircleaner if you have an original aircleaner.
those aftermarket aircleaners (the round ones everyone sems to have) don't have these pickups. But sometimes they have a provision so that you can add a hose to this.
I've been driving it open for about 2 years now with no problems.
moreimporatntly you have the heatriser hooked up (which you have) and the 3rd spot where this carb is open is the connector to the vacuum advance of distributor.
I cannot say if you have that one hooked up as it's blocked in the picture by the black choke canister.

Check on an exposion view of the carb and you'll get the idea

Ummmm...If you leave it open with the round 14" aftermarket filter, it appears to be pulling unfiltered air into the engine. I would plug it so I was not pulling dirt into the engine or connect it to the valve cover breather.
