Sitting with no coolant - OK or bad ?

Sitting with no coolant - OK or bad ?
My '69 is down for repairs for about 2-3 weeks, I flushed the radiator and would NOT like to refill the coolant system if possible (gotta replace some senders and hoses etc.). Is it OK to sit for a while with no coolant, or will it damage something internally?
