...one of them is stationary and you have to move the part you are welding around the spot welder...
Kind of makes it a chore to weld that cowl back in ehh....
i wish i had some pics of us welding my front clip together with it, radiator support frame rails and shocktowers hangin froma a forklift

it was quite a site

I guess i am trying to get feedback on the two readily available units.

The first unit says it will weld up to 16 gauge steel. I think our cars have 18??, is that correct??

1. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

The second unit says it will handle up to 1/8" or i believe 10 gauge bare steel. correct me if i am wrong on the conversion.

2. http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCT

I've already purchased the number 1 unit, but i havent had a chance to check it out yet because all i have is a MIG welder. I'm going to run out and buy a cheap arc welder today and perhaps one of the other spot welders if you all think they are worth a ___

Thanks
The secondones look like a miller spotwelder, price is prity close too. www.millerwelds.com spot welders have consumables. you just cant go in to haber freight or eastwoodto get tips, tongs or get any kind of support. go to your local welding distributer and talk to them, you will get more information than you wanted, plus you wont pay freight.

KStang...I wish I had the good fortune you have had with Harbor Freight. I have bought 2 nail guns (for use in my side job), a pad sander, and a die grinder from them. All worked well at first then went down the tubes. I had trouble getting any satisfaction from Harbor Freight when things went bad. If price is a major issue I would go to Northern Tool. They are within 5% of Harbor Freight on most items and are much easier to deal with.

Just my experience. If you have a Harbor Freight that treats you well...by all means stick with them. I just have not had much luck.
