Found an unusual mark.
After a second coat of stripper and s steam bath, I've got her bottom pretty clean. I did notice a unusual stamping under the primer and though I would share it with you. Did Ford sub out the body?

RE: Found an unusual mark.
Maybe a steel vendor? Or a parts supplier? Anyway, looks good under there. Were you expecting it to be that solid? Sure doesn't show any obvious problems from the pictures.

RE: Found an unusual mark.
I have read long discussions about similar markings on the fuel tank(the diamond shaped logo).
The manufacturer of the steel tank put a very similer mark on the steel itself. It was not always in the same place on the final stamping and are very little preserved.
I hope you get alot of photos of that marking. Was probably put on the roll of steel used to stamp out the parts. I am no expert but I have the the diamond logo before.
Mustang history buffs will fing those pics very interesting.
Very well preserved car. Awesome.

RE: Found an unusual mark.
It seems its the symbol for the company that supplied Ford with the cold roll steel (PREMIER). On the rust, I will plasma out around the rot and mig in some new. It is confined to a few square inches and will take little time. The inner's have only surface rustand I need to get some phosphoric acid on them ASAP. The car is out of central Florida and seems to have been well mantained. It was originally sold at Shirley Ford in Alexander Virginia in 1965 where mywife was born, they lived only a few blocks down the street. Her parents said theywould drivepast it everyday. I wonder if any of themseen it sitting on the lot 43 years ago.
