Default Taiwan body panels

Not exactly a perfect fit are they? The patch pieces I cut out of a couple of Taiwan quarter skins aren't bad but they are not very exact. I've noticed anyplace there is a bend the Taiwan piece is more rounded than the original...like the bottom at the back of the quarter and the wheel flares where they take a 90 degree or so bend to mate with the wheel housing. Workable though, especially as small patches. I've heard most of these pieces are made from forms created from actual fenders. Kind of like making a photocopy of something. A reasonable reproduction but not as sharp.

You're right. They are workable, but not quite exact. As long as you know going into the repair that you have to be cautious....you can at be prepared!

I agree, I have an overseas replica that I was going to use until I found two perfect originals at my local swap meet for $30 bucks a piece. Plus, the part where the fender meets the windshield area had a different transition. Most people wouldn't even notice, but I couldn't sleep at night knowing that was there.

my door skin was replaced and the edges were rounded more than original like you described. However, good body work can make this just as crisp as the original.
