How Do I Install My HEI Distributor?////vacuum line
Okay, so I got a new HEI distributor for my birthday today, but I have no idea how to install it cuz it didnt come with instructions.
First off, in an article that JMD gave me on how to replace a stock dizzy, it said to disconnect the vacuum lines and then reconnect them, but in the pictures they looked like rubber lines, but mine has a hard bent line (and I think there is only one) as you can see in the pic. How can I reattach that to the HEI? Also, I have no idea where to connect any wires to the HEI, or what wires to use (I assume I use the wires off the coil). All help is greatly appreciated!
Here are some pics:
the dizzy itself
some plug thing...?
vacuum line
coil wires

Okay, I figured out where to connect the power and tach and stuff, but I am still confused about the vacuum line.
I think I am gonna have to cut the hard vacuum line and attach a rubber hose to go from it to the distributor. Will that work?

You shouldn't have any hard vacuum line once you remove your old distributor. Run a rubber line from the vacuum advance on the HEI unit to the ported vacuum port on your carb.

is that the same thing the vacuum advance hard line is connected to now?

is that the same thing the vacuum advance hard line is connected to now? If so, how would I be able to connect a rubber line there cuz the hard line has a bolt type fitting thing...

Interesting, I don't remember mine having a threaded fitting like that. First thing I'd do is take that fitting off and see what kind of fitting it is. If it's not something you can easily replace with a ****** hose end, you can just cut the line and use it as a nipple for the vacuum line.

Man I'd think long and hard before I cut that hard vacuum line. That is an original piece. Fab up your own line and keep the factory piece intact.
