im thinking of getting a 65 or 66 v8 mustang 289 or 302 and i want to swap it to a 351w would i still need to change the rear end? what would i need to change</P>

I wouldnt change it until I broke it, but thats just me Simply the difference in a stock 289 vs a stock 351 isnt gonna be enough to break anything unless maybe you drag you car and launch on slicks.

Keep the 289 it is a higher reving motor and can eaisly produce 350 hp

I agree I have a 289 in mine and I am puting out 350 at the wheels. It is a really nice motor. Of coarse I have around 6,000 in the motor.

Get the 351, more cubes = more power for your dollar.</P>


289 would be better on a road course with its high revs than it would be in a 1/4.</P>

damn MD had nothing to say to that.....I would go with the 351 or a 331 stroker

If you are going to do a swap and not keep it orginal I would go with a newer fuel injected motor. Install a 5.4 or a 5.0 cobra motor

Ifdo not care about keeping it somewhat original, thensell the 289 and get whatever you want
