Default Suspension

my coils and leafs need replacing. im geared to 4:56 and i plan to add atleast 100-150hp to my 302. my question is what type of springs to get? 5 leaf with 1" lowering, 5 leaf standard height ect. and up front what rate to use and do i get 1" lowering as well? I want performance and a nice ride. I only take her out on nice days and like to show off every now and then. any and all input would be appreciated for this noobie. price isnt too big a concern. thanks

I haven't changed my front coils, so I can't help you out there except to say that a bunch of guys have done the Shelby drop. As far as the rear leaf springs, the number of leaves will depend on what rear end you have in it. If it is a standard 8" rear, then the 4 leaf springs will work, but make sure you have traction bars under her. That will not only improve handling, it will keep the rear end on the ground during launch.

You might even consider the 4 1/2 leaves in the back. But the 5 leaf will definitely be adequate. It also depends on how much RWHP you plan to go with. If it is 400 and above, then yes I would suggest the 4 1/2 or 5. But it will be a rougher ride at normal speeds because it will be stiffer. Do a google search on the Steeda front coil springs, and see if that fits your needs.

You might as well do it bud...

Also, hieght depends on what tires you want to run IMO, are you looking for the muscle car look with a raised rear, a sporty look with a lower stance (may have tire clearance problems) or a stock look?

And, before you take off the old coil springs on the front, come back on here to get some advice. Those things can be killers. As in very dangerous.
