Alternator?

Alternator?
While I was at Advanced Auto today, I thought I'd get a price on an alternator for my 351W. The lady looked it up for me but there were two options, a 155mm case and 135mm case. Anyone know which is the one I need? Its a 1974 351W in a 1967 coupe if it matters any...
Also, I checked out ebay to see what was available. What do you guys think of this? Under 100$, bling (haha), and comes with the little fan that I wanted to get anyways. I'm not going to have many assecories, so I think 100amps would be well enough for me, right? Just the lights, electric fan, and electric fuel pump I guess....

Also, do I need my alternator to be 1 wire, or is that unnecessary? If it SHOULD be 1 wire, how difficult is that to change?

RE: Alternator?
With no accessories65 amps is plenty. I think my Pickup is only 35 amp. A one wire set up has internal regulator and the only wire you use is the "bat" wire that goes to the solenoid. I am not sure about where you are, but here you can take your old altenator to an auto electric shop and have it rebuilt for about $65.00.They could even throw a fan on it if you like I bet.

With an electric fan and fuel pump, I'd start considering a 1-wire setup. A factory 35A unit is good for a stock vehicle, but that electric fan pulls a good portion of that by itself. There's no need to go aftermarket for one, though. You can just run to Napa (shame on you for going to Advance for electrical parts) and pick up...ah crap, I can't remember the number. Gimme 2 days (I don't work again until wednesday)and I'll post the part number for you

RE: Alternator?
Tad, thanks for the response!I dont have the fuel pump yet, but I know the max amp draw on the electric fan is 11.5. Other than running lights, thats ALL I'm going to be running. No boomin' stereo system or that fancy crap.
I don't know of any Napa in my area, and since I get a corporate discount from Advanced and free delivery to my work place, I tend to go there.
Is it difficult to convert a normal alternator to a 1-wire? I found a really good deal on one, but it is not 1wire...

RE: Alternator?
I believeall you have to do is hook up the power lead on the one-wire alternator to the battery + terminal, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Referring to your PM, I haven't heard good things about aftermarket chrome alternators. If it was me, I'd just buy a good reman unit. I'll get you the application for the GM one-wire unit when I get back to work.

RE: Alternator?
Thanks Tad, but I still don't have a Napa anywhere near that I know of. I'll have to look it up in the phonebook.
No clue on the 155/135mm case, so I can get a qoute from advanced?
