1966 Fastback Rust Bucket. Where to start?

I wouldn't pull the floor pans before media blasting unless you do it at the media blaster and put the new ones in whle there. The floors are structural and the shell could twist during transport. Its one thing when they are cut out in a shop, and another thing when its bouncing down the road on a trailer without floors in it. Just my opinion.

I agree. If the car was otherwise solid and the floors were the only weak area, you'd probably be okay with removing them first, but with this car I don't think that is the case.
Media blasting a car usually involves a mild agent.... not sand.... soda and walnut shells are a couple of acceptable agents that will not damage/warp the good panels. In your case, I'm not sure that any of the panels are worth saving. Look in your local phone book under automotive restoration services and call those guys. They may not do it, but they'll know someone local who does. Figure $1000 to 2000.

I sand blasted mine in my two car garage. you should be able to get it done for around 500. You can ask them to make sure they know how to blast a car.

Awesome pics to keep me motivated, davesanborn! I know your neck of the woods very well...used to be stationed at MCAS New River down Hwy17 from you.
Jarrettdad...here's hoping that my car does not become a respository for Kendall's "Adult Incontinent Briefs!"
On a serious note, thank you all for your knowledge...this won't be the last time I'll be looking for it!

Blasting cost depends on where you are located. I'm getting quotes between $1700-$3000 here in SoCal for soda and oxide on the rough bits.
In your garage?!? Not to Hijack but how the heck did you pull that off?

Are you going to leave the fastback vents welded up? I kinda like the look with the weld and all..
