thanks Dan. I looked in mustangs unlimited and depot and found 16 gallon tanks and the 22 gallon fuel cells for over a thousand bucks.

Tony, maybe I was mistaken. I have searched MM online and find nothing. The oldest 20 gallon tank I can find is for a 69. Maybe I was dreaming or it was a 69 I saw them installing it in. I will keep looking.

I am pretty certain most of the 65, 66, etc models came out of the factory with a 16 gallon but I have seen larger tanks for sale in the after market.

Guess your best bet is to run the car down to running on fumes then see how many gallons it takes to fill it up.

In the Mustang Monthly article that was talked about, they put a 22 gallon tank for a 1970 mustang into a 1965 Fastback.

But back to the original post.

I'm trying to caculate the fuel economy for my Stang, but I don't know the gas tank size. Any numbers would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you are looking for fuel economy, you don't need to know the tank size. Just fill up and record the mileage. Drive until close to empty and fill up again. Calculate the miles travelled since the last fill up and divide by the number of gallons that you just put in. That will get you the economy.

If talking about range, then you do need fuel capacity.

Ok Tony, I found it in June MM. It is a 22 gallon tank from Antioch Mustang Stable in Mesa, Az. I knew I had seen it somewhere. they said it cost 224 bux. I like it and may go with one before I am finished. Thought I was losing my mind. Here is the link.

No, that is not it. That is just the safety floor for the trunk. I guess it is a 1970 tank. I can not find it in the article.

That website is just for the tank armor product that goes over the actual fuel tank. Buy that alone and the gas runs on the ground. The fuel tank used in that article is just a stock 1970 Mustang fuel tank. Nothing special about it.

Yes the 20 gallon is from the 69/70 it bolts in you have to use the 69/70 filler neck or shorten yours.
