fmx shifter seal
Does any one know if you have to pull the transmission out to replace the shifter shaft seal?
i am a diesel mechanic so it is not a prob to do, but i would rather not have to pull it if i dont have to.

No, the trans can stay installed, but IIRC, the throttle body needs to be dropped out while the seal is replaced.
It's been over 10 years since I worked on an FMX, so I could be mistaken, but I'm 93.6% certain.

The FMX was a mid sized engine transmission. Ford mostly used it behind the 351 windsor/cleveland. It's an "okay" transmission. IMO, better than a C4, not as nice as a C6. The cast iron case makes it heavy as all get out, which by the way you'll find out AFTER you drop the transmission on your forearm and lay under the car thinking about chewing your arm off slightly above the elbow until your wife/GF happens to come tell you it's time for dinner and rescues you.
