If you're a man with a budget, then you're looking to get into the wrong hobby.

New engine and Transmission on that 67 Coupe sounds nice but 7000.00 also sounds high for a coupe.

I'll give you my own personal example...

I paid a little over double that for my 69 Fastback/Sportroof and I will have put about 2800.00 into it by the time I can drive it safely again. I even paid almost 200.00 for an inspection before my loan was approved (did not have the cash right away). Sadly what I'm paying to have fixed are the things that the inspector said was new or in good working order.

At 17 if you do not know much about the mechanicals of a car take someone with you that does. The initial money for the car is a starting point but expect to spend more to just make sure it stays running.

Wanting a classic car is one thing making sure you don't get taken to the cleaners and have your experience tarnished is another. Just make sure to cover all your bases BEFORE you buy it.
