color...to change or not?

More people look at my brothers 68 coupe painted the same metallic blue color as my Pontiac engines than people who gawk at my friends puke green 67. And they are both very nice Mustangs. It isnt a 1 of 200, or a 1 of 6, it is a 1 of 20,000 or more. So the value of it is the same as any other one in decent shape, and that is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
If you like another color, its your car so paint it that color. You arent building it to sell, and it wont be going to Barret Jackson any time soon will it? Build it the way YOU want it to drive it, and that goes for any vehicle that isnt a rarity or highly desirable.

Yeah, I don't worry about the value too much either. I do like to keep it one of the original Mustang colors though. It is definately more expensive to change the color since you should have it stripped, paint under the hood, inside the trunk, and door jams.
If you have to change out the interior it will add to the expense as well. What color is your interior?
That being said...I would go for it if you like that color better. Otherwise you will always be thinking about it. I thought about it for years and I'm glad I changed mine.

I think both colors are really nice, but from past experience make sure the car is sanded and the old paint is gone and what not because I had a 68 that was originally highland green but repainted silvery blue and as my daily driver stuff being kicked up while driving ended up chipping away at the paint and lets just say my car was both green and blue after while.

I agree with the above posters. I will tell you my mechanic has a car in his garage that the customer is wanting to change the color from it's original Rangoon Red to the Moss Green. Several people have given him a hard time since it's a 65 Fastback GT car. My mechanic said it himself. It is your car you're paying for it and you're going to drive it. Pick the color you want and enjoy the car. No one else is paying for the car so it is your decision.
These cars were made to be enjoyed and a big part of history (like over 9 million so far). That's like saying the Mustang is the McDonalds of cars.

I contemplated going totally custom on my 67 GT S-code coupe, but after a lot of thinking, I'm going with the original Burnt Amber. I don't care about resale, I will never sell this car but how many Burnt Amber Mustang's do you see? In my search I have found about 3, 2 of which are magazine cars.
But in the end, its your car, the value isn't what someone or some website tells you, its you that tells you what its worth. This is America, paint your car the color you want!!

Personally, I would keep it the dark green. However, as others have already said, paint it the color you want. I definitely like the idea of keeping it a Mustang color. That is why my 65 is caspian blue. It was originally twilight turquoise.
