Temperature Gauge Problems

Mine runs about not quite to the half on the temp gauge but if it get to the half it is running hot. Can't understand how just a few movments can change so quickly.

Now i got a problem why would my temperature gauge go up when i turn my lights on even if my ignition is off it still goes up i have a 93 lx 5.0 has anyone ever had this problem if so i need help
