66 headlights on,..parking lights off?

66 headlights on,..parking lights off?
k just installed headlights and parking lights,...
everything works and turn signals BUT, when i turn the headlights on, the parking lights go off,..
is this correct? or should they stay on

Sounds like when you wired the headlight switch you made the classic mistake of connecting the parking/tail lights to the "Park" connection on the headlight switch. When you turn on the parking lights they work fine, but when you turn on the headlights, they go off. If that is the case, move that lead to the "Tail" connection on the headlight switch and it will work correctly.

My 65 is the same way pull the light **** a little and the parking lights turn on pull it all the way and they turn off and the headlights turn on. If I am not mistaken only the original gt's had the parking lamps stay on when the headlights where on. could be wrong but I read that somewhere.
