3 speed to 4 speed

$1800 for a 4 spd? Where are you seeing that? They are in the paper around my area all the time for $400 to $800 depending on condition. $800 for one that has completely be gone through. Also you do not have to change the clutch or pressure plate. The 4 spd is a direct swap. At least in my 69 it was.

David Kee has them for sale for $1885 with all new parts.

It may be cheaper ($350 +parts cost) if you have a tranny core and send it to them for rebuild depending on what all needs to be replaced. They are a reputable toploader company from what I have heard on this site, so I would think their prices would be inline with the market.

I see but they are replacing the gears. I think stock gears would be fine for most people. I was talking about the classifieds in the local papers in my area. I never thought about going to an shop for one. Hmm, maybe I should go into the toploader business although I doubt anyone could get over a grand for rebuilt toploader in my region (SE Missouri).
