Default 65 Shelby hood vs 72 Mach One

I thought I would share this. I never thought there was so much difference in the size of the two untill yesterday when I sat the 65 down on the Mach's. The 65 looks tiny. Just thought it would be interesting. Talking about a "long nose" Mustang.

Are you saying my car is fat?

Don't forget the length of the cowl that my hood covers. That adds a few inches to the '65.

Not fat at all. I always liked the 71-3's, the last of the looooong nose Mustangs. The only drawback is the vision out of the rear window.

My car didn't have a rearview mirror when I got it. I am used to driving trucks so I am used to only having side mirrors.

Years later I decided to put a rearview mirror in it and I mounted it higher than the factory. I can see out the window better in that one than my other one with the factory location, even with the car being raked.

It still has blind spots though.

My 71 is the stock heigth and I can see out of the back perfectly with the mirror in the stock position. The rumor of poor visability must have come from the cars with the rearend raised (and maybe short drivers, I'm 6'0").
There' s a huge blind spot on the side though and the stock "non-convex" right side mirror is almost useless. I wish someone had a modern convex mirror rebuild kit for it.

How many mustangs you got evil?Yeah the 71-73 sport roof the back window is kinda useless to see out of.My dad had a 71 sport roof i learned to drive in it i hated backing it out of the driveway the street was always full of cars only 2 houses on our block had a driveway.Compare the fenders of the two bet the 72 has 3 inches at least on the 65.

65 Fastback twin turbo in progress, 66 vert, 67 "Eleanor" 5.4 blown and injected 32 valve, 68 Shelby GT500KR original, 68 vert, 68 coupe T/A clone, 71 "J" code 429 ram air cobra jet, 72 Mach 1, 73 Sports roof, 93 coupe. I've been at it for a few years. I was just shocked when I sat the 65 hood on the Mach's, the other junk was'nt on there. Hope to paint on the 65 in the am.
