All you have to do to compensate is run a really high rear gear.

That's the the Doug Nash's were originally designed for, same thing with the Richmond 4+1(same trans mostly). They're for factory 2.80/3.00 rear gears.

What is the use for this transmission? Street? Strip? The Doug Nash should be considered a race only piece. It's straight cut gears will get really old, really fast on the street.

The beauty of these units was the ease of rebuild. The gear sets are very easily laid in place as opposed to wrestling everything through a hole in the side or top of the transmission.

If I were drag racing, I would love to have one, but that's just me. I'm a manual transmission maniac. For the street, I would find something with conventional helical cut gears and brass synchros.

The New Process transmission is a truck transmission. A race transmission has a wining sound that will be worse in some than others. Believe me, it will NOT sound like your NP 435.

As a race setup, however, it will be fabulous.

The newer Richmonds are helical cut, except for things like the T-101 which is a NASCAR tranny. Straight cut gears can be extremely noisy.
