1968 Shelby Mustang GT500KR Fastback - $189000

I was thinking this car could be a Dynacorn Repop! oops! I thought the car being talked about was the one in zmetalmilitia's signature photo.
The Craigslist car looks nice but with the economy tanking - the prices are falling.

By 1968, "Shelby" Mustang production was switched entirely over to Ford. None of the vehicles actually went through the Shelby American plant. This is part of why the '68 GT350's used plane jane J code motors (albiet with a mid-year change and recall to an aluminum intake). Shelby still got design input and name rights, but left production to Ford (and Kar Kraft, iirc)
Are you sure about that? I would beg to differ.

Starfury may be correct. I do know that production shifted from Shelby's old shop at Los Angeles LAX Airport to Michighan for the '68-'70 Shelbys. I think it was A.O. Smith Co. that built them for Ford, in MI.

Very sure, yes. 67ragtop may be correct about the AO Smith production, though.
And honestly, I think you guys are a little pessimistic. While I'm not a big fan of the '68 "Shelby" cars, it's still a KR. Not too many of them floating around.

Well here it is. At the end of 67, Shelby's lease was set to expire on the two hangers and the pavement surrounding them, the company also had outgrown the LAX facility where it started with a production run of about 500 cars. The run for 1968 was slated for something like 4000+ units. Another problem facing the LAX facility was a lack of quality fiberglass parts in the area, so the decision was made to move the plant to Michigan. The production was handled by the A.O. Smith in Ionia while the administrative offices (Shelby Automotive inc.) were located at Livonia. All 68's were built at Ford's Metuchen (T) factory and shipped by rail to A.O. Smith in Ionia were they recieved the Shelby treatment. They were 4451 Shelby's built in 68 and 1053 were GT500KR Fastbacks. Some books will state that 933 were built, but the registry disputes this.

Hey my car is not a dynacorn repop. Just look at my photobucket link and you'll see it is a genuine 67 fastback. Geeezh. I know, you didn't mean anything, it's all good.

Wow gotta show this to a friend from work he was asking me the other day, "how much is a shelby." My first response was a hell amount of money and then some. Now I can give him a better idea of how much it is.
