There is only 1/8" clearance now, but moving the whole engine/trans back would place the shifter body better in the existing cutout and allow the back of the T5 to be elevated a bit more. Either that, or do some surgery to the hump.

hello. . ok even if you lower the pinion you still cant raise your trans enough to get the shaft to run downhill by even 3 degrees if your measurements are accurate . you would also need to lower the ngine. .. they have mounts for doing this but the exhaust may need to be modified . . .kinda a nightmare. . can you post a photo of the angles at trans and pinion?

Yup...painful. So I took some measurements to see what changed between the FMX and T5 mounting.
On the trannys themselves; the distance from the shaft centerline to mounting pad is within 1/16", so no big deal there.
On the crossmembers; the T5 mount is dropped about 3/4" compared to the FMX, so that is the culprit. But this is only about 1.2 degrees, not anywhere close to what I would need ideally.
I used to get vibes way over 100 mph, so it was not an issue. But at 80 it is a no go.

hello . . so if you even could raise your trans .750 at the mount your driveshaft would still run uphill exiting the trans?

It appears so and that was how it had been since 1989 when I bought it. Now 25 years later, the FMX to T5 swap exposed this issue.

you might want to check the driveshaft angle first just to be safe, lol.
