Fender & Door Bumper rails
Looking for information on whether or not these door rails were a dealer add on. It's a San Jose car 1970 Mach 1. They look to be professionally installed, however I have never seen these type on Mustangs before. They are chromed with a recess for the rubber strip and then riveted on the car about two inches down from the crest on the side of the car. Tried to attach a photo but don't know URL stuff. I have seen them on other fords... Torino... etc. in the same year (1970). Anyone care to share. Thx.

Funny thing I have seen a bunch of Mustangs with those moldings mostly form San Jose. I'm guessing that there was some dealers that installed them. My '66 is a San Jose build too and had the holes drilled along the side of the car. When I bought my car I had a tape stripe that someone cleverly used to hide the holes, that was a drag because I had to weld them all closed.

Thanks Denny, I'm torn between welding the holes up or re-installing the rail. If in fact the bumper rails were a dealer installed option wouldn't it be better to restore as original and keep them on? Or take them off?
