My ignitor 2 came yesterday
My Pertronix ignitor 2 came and i installed it in the rain i was so happy. lol, I gapped it at .030, and took it for a test drive. I could diffently feel a increase in power, but since my flamethrower 2 coil isn't here yet [&o], it doesn't have all the power at top speed yet, but i still burned a couple of punks in a little honda civic. Something Scott said on here gave me a fright though, he said dont use metal feeler guages. I did, but it runs so i guess it didn't mess anything up. Just wanted to let everybody know, because many of oyu helped me understand what to do with it and the wiring. Thanks

very cool! Congratulations. This should also smooth the idle a bit as well.
Did your instructions say anything about using brass feeler gauges?
If not they may have changed more than just the "brains".

Way to go Charlie. Now, when you get that new flamethrower coil, gap the plugs to 0.40
The kit should have come with a plastic feeler gauge. Anyway, it is not nearly so important to get the gap perfect as it is with the points. Just get it in the ballpark.

Yeah, i already gapped the plugs to .040. It's running good like that now, can't wait to get the coil though. I'll reread my instructions about gapping it, I know it didn't come with a feeler guage though.

OOPS, My instructions say use the inclosed plastic feeler guage, but mine didn't have one. Well, i guess i didn't mess anything up using the metal one, it still runs.

Since the provided feeler gauge is plastic, I would not think it would have to all that exact. The old tried and true matchbook feeler gauge should work. Being that I am the paranoid type, I would probably mic the matchbook between each uses.
