Best disk brakes for my 67
Hi folks,
I'm new to the forum (but not 'stangs) and am looking for some advice. I just bought a 67 convertible with manual, drum brakes. I'm going to install power front disks. Should I go original or aftermarket? I don't really care about them being "correct", but if aftermarket are not substantially better, I would just as soon be original. My priority is definitely performance though.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Go up on top to the sticky section on this classic forum and read about the Granada disk brake swap. Then go to a parts store and buy all new parts. Most complete kits run in the neighborhood of a thousand dollars, but with this method, it will cost you in the neighborhood of 500.

Yeah, I saw that. Don't want to waste money but I'll spend it if it's worth it. Question is, are old as good as the new ones? There's also the pain of dealing with/fixing rusty old parts - seized fittings, etc.
- Are the brakes off other cars considered "correct"?
- If the aftermarkets perform better, which ones?
Thanks

RE: Best disk brakes for my 67
Some guys have had good luck with either the Wilwood or the Roush aftermarket systems, but they are pricey, and I can't see how they would be any better than original disk brakes for your 67. Front disks were an option back in 67 ($64.77 back in 67 ) So, why don't you consider going to a good parts place and order the original NOS brake components. Use the sticky at the top to see which parts you will need.
On Edit: You already have the dual master cylinder and proportioning valve, so it seems yours would be a relatively easy swap.
