stock intakes should be cast iron. you should be able to tell by the weight of the thing.
cast iron can be hot tanked, or baked and shot peened. aluminum can be hot tanked if they are using chemicals that are aluminum safe, or glass beaded.

yes, you should be able to hot tank it. If you have a pressure washer, that will work also. The plate underneath, if I'm correct, is to help preheating the fuel and intake when cold. I recall the machine shop saying it's a common point where these intakes crack. It's not hurting anything, so why remove it? Cracked?

i wanted to remove it cause there was nasty crap all around and under it, and the last thing i want is said crap in my lifter valley
i just like everything as clean as possible in my motor, cause all the money i have in it depends on it
