Default Repairing/ Remplacing a Radio

Hey everyone, I tryed turning on my radio the other night and it stopped working. its not a fuse, i checked them. I need to get the radio out of the car to fix it, or work on it but i cant figure it out. I am in the proces of replacing the glove box liner so i can get behind it from there, but i cant pull it out. Are there skrews or something i need to take out?

If I remember correctly it is held on by two nuts on the *****. Pull the ***** off and you should see them. On the back of mine there was a piece of perforated steel band that went from the underside of the dash to the back of the radio.

thank you so much, i was finaly able to remove it. I have another question, WHen i turn the switch to turn it on nothing happens. Do you, or does anybody else, know if this means the capacitors are shot? I am trying to think of a way to hook an ipod up to it and at the same time maintaining the retro look. I would buy a new one or have it done but i have no money to do it. If I can get the radio to turn on, I think i would be able to figure out how to re, wire one of the presets to an aux port.

Are you sure its not a fuse? Are you getting power from the lead and acc wire? The reason I ask is because my radio wouldnt turn on a few weeks back and the fuse wasnt bad it was just loose.

If your talking about the factory am radio, then dump it and get one of the digital tuner tape decks that has cd changer control that looks like a vintage radio. You can even get a dual stereo speaker set that goes in place of your single am speaker. This picture is for reference. Several places carry the same type of thing.

Someone just sold one on this forum or stangnet for 100 bucks. You could look for a used on on ebay.

I think JCWhitney sell them too. They might be less expensive.

I just thought that this would be a good way to get a better radio with out cutting your dash. Just about any other radio requires cutting the dash. Mine was already butchered, so I made the hole bigger and installed a CD player.

I bought a custom auto sound from someone on this site for $100. I have a ken harrison unit (jvc) that works okay but its not the best that I would sell (display isnt great). Havent had any issues with the radio messing up. It is one that will fit right where the original radio went.
