Default converting to a T5

I have been following the conversion thread but wanted to ask a few more questions with out stealing it.
First i currently have a 3 speed, the T5 i picked up 1352-169 is from a 86 fox only has 269 torque rating. from the spec sheets i can only see 2nd (1.93 vs 1.99) and 3rd (1.29 vs 1.33) gears are different as well as the spedo gears. It that all i need to do to get a 300 torque rating is change the gears?
here is where i gather the 411 http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...p/index2.shtml

also i got the drive shaft from the fox, can i use it instead if moding my originial or would it have to be midified as well?

Thanks
