Default Aftermarket parts aren't the same.

I recently purchased an aftermarket front strut rod brace (right side) because one of the previous owners hit something in the front and tried to straighten out the flanges, unsuccessfully I might add. The new aftermarket piece from Laural Mountain is the same basic size and I'm certain all the key dimensions are the same, it just looks different than the other one (left side). The flanges are flared out differently and when you down on them, the left stting right beside right, you can tell they are different. Probably not a chance in hell I'll ever find a real one floating around. Anyone know where I can get a REAL one?

And I'm looking for a front valance and a rear valance for the car. 1970 mach 1. The rear would have the cut outs for dual exhaust.

That is one of the biggest things I've learned on my restoration is to use original parts whenever possible. No matter what the claim is, repro parts are not the same. It can be a different feel, look, weight, fit, grade of steel, color, grain, texture, smell, wait-maybe not smell, but you get the idea.

LOL. Guess what....I just packed up two new strut rods to send back to Mustangs Unlimited as they don't fit right either! You had the backing issue and my rods won't fit. So I got an RMA number and sending back today.

So, instead of paying $59/ea I now have to pay $350/pr for Global West adjustable Strut rods. I am not going to chance another set not fitting, so will spend more and just do it up right.

You might enjoy the global west's more. A much better product, imo. I have the TCP's, they're excellent too.

I'd send this one back too if I hadn't already drilled holes in it for welding. There goes $48.00. Lesson #1 in the restorers handbook - Completely examine reproduction parts before installing -
