Default Pertronix Ignitor ?

I installed the Pertronic Ignitor II with Flame thrower II coil on my 67 289. I was wondering do I need to up grade the stock wire and spark plugs. The wire are new and the plugs are Champion RF11YC that have been in for about 1500 miles.

No, but you should have bypassed the stock ignition resistor to give the coil a full 12V feed. This will give you more voltage at the plugs, allowing you to open up your plug gap to .040 or so.

I did the same PertxII/FlamethrII upgrade on my 302. I decided to change out to low ohm wires, and opened the gaps up to .040 also. I got a noticeable improvement.

Don't forget to check/reset your timing after the pertronix upgrade.

Pink wire coming out of the ignition switch. You need to cut it, strip about 1" of it back, loop it back on itself (to get some extra wire contact area), and use a butt connector to run a new 12ga wire out to the coil.

Well, actually you're supposed to get a new 90* spade to run into the switch, but that can be tricky to find, and most people have butt connectors and wire laying around all over the place

Dang. I'm running the gaps on my 67 I6 at .050 or .055 might even be .060
