Default Torque Converter

Having transmission rebuilt so I figured I would change out the torque converter while at it. Was wondering if you guys have any suggestions with which one to go with. Not looking to run my car in the 1/4 but want a strong street car.

Thanks

What is your rear end gear and I guess you are running a C4? I'm thinking 2200 to 2500 stall right now, but your rear end gear is important.

What rear gears are you running?

A good trans shop will guide you. They will need your car weight and cam/power band specs..

Well, everybody says "whats your rear gears?" That honestly has about nothing to do with it. More importantly, what is done to the engine? And more specifically, what cam are you running? I run a 3000 stall with my 347, and it has a pretty big cam (.555/.570 lift, 232,242 duration). It also has really good aluminum heads, a big intake, ect. It makes roughly 425 HP and 480 Lb/ft of torque. I have ran this combo with both a factory 3.00 open rear end (8") and now its got a 3.73 posi 8.8 behind it (Auburn Pro, 31 spline Mosers). My converter works great with both setups, and heat wasn't an issue at all. I just run a large external trans cooler and the trans has gotten up to 140 deg on a hot summer day with me beating on it pretty hard. So don't worry too much about that, just run a good trans cooler. But give us some info on the engine because that is most important, the converter needs to be matched to you engine HP and Cam specs.
