Default axle vent measurement

I am looking for the distance the axle vent tube is from the housing end flange on a 69 mustang. I am assuming the vent is located on the top of the axle tube, is this correct? I also wanted to verify that it is located on the drivers side.

Thanks!

I cannot give you the measurement as I have a 65'. But it is on the drivers side on the top of mine. Just a few inches away from the pumpkin.

same here with aftermarket rear axle. Obviously at top. Driverside here as well (1964).

do you know how far it is from the welded joint where the axle tube meets the center section? My guess is that distance would be the same on all mustangs.

If the brake lines are still installed, the block that connects them is right where the hole in the axle is (on my 66axle).jlg

Yep, on a '69, the left right distribution block for the brakes is attached to the vent tube on the driver side top of the axle tube. I have not measured it, but it is not more than a few inches from the outside end of the tube.

I don't have the old axle at my disposal currently. I need to drill and tap the hole for it in the new 9" rear i have. It is out of a f-100 so it was not in the correct location. so 3"? 2"? 5"?

I measured the 66 8" over the weekend. the vent hole is ~13.625 in from the axle flange or around ~2.5 in. from the center housing to axle tube weld line.
