Default Leaky differentail..

..makes me mad! It took me forever to build my 9", piecing it together and slowly building it becuase I'm broke like a joke. And when I get it all together, oil leaks out the side!!

It's only the passenger side leaking at the moment, but the oil wasn't completely filled prior to installing it. So, that leaves 2 options. Either the passenger side inner axle seal is leaking, and it's only that side becuase only that side isn't messed up. Or, the passenger side is the only side leaking becuase I installed it by myself and it was leaning slightly to the passenger side before I bolted it, causing the oil to run that way, and in fact the driver side is screwed up as well.

So now I have to tear it down again, replace everything, and probably have it leak again...

Sorry man. Be careful not to nick the seals with the axle splines while installing the axles.

Check the vent and make sure it isn't plugged. If you over filled it and the vent is plugged you will have a lot of fluid leak out the seals. Were they new seals?

I just reworked my 8" rear end. More than likely it's that seal. Do check your vent hose as previously stated. I changed my vent hose because the old one was stopped up.

The differential hasn't been run yet, all I did was slap it in and the next day I saw oil on the floor.

Vent tube is not blocked, was not overfilled (actually less than full), and seals were new..

Everytime I try doing something positive, something screws up and I lose interest for months...

Do you have sealed bearings on the axles? If so, the guy i got my parts from said there is no point in using seals on the axles, just put a little bit of rtv around the outside of the bearing and that should seal it. That is what i plan on doing for mine when i get to that point.
