Also has does the speedo cable and gear hook up to the speedo hole? Is there some plate or something to hold it in there?

Sorry it took so long on answering....... My factory 66' speedo worked for a while, I don't know if it broke cuz of being not compatable or what. (cable broke) Went to an Autometer electric and it works great. Tried to find out what the top one is but my 5.0 friend hasn't responded yet. We'll keep it going till I find out!

I asked the 5.0 guys. It is basically like a neutral safety switch. And the other is the lights.

How does the speedo cable connect to the t5 though? There need to be something to hold in there doesn't there?

On your coupe, there should be a clip that is on your speedo cable. From what I remember, it was different from the aftermarket ones.

Mine was round and attached to the cable. Hope this helped!

Seems like it should be water tight in some way...

I will ask the local Mustang store this weekend.

The speedo cable has a "o"ring on the shaft to seal it. It won't leak unless the o-ring is bad. I'll try to find a pic for you.

Yours should look just like this one except with the gear on it held on by an "e" clip and an "o" ring just below the clip. (in the groove) Hope it helped.
