Anything wrong with moving the engine back a tad?

Default Anything wrong with moving the engine back a tad?

I will be using Ron Morris engine mounts for my build along with T5. Any reason I can't move the engine back .5-.75" to align with the hole? I know I will still have cut the other direction though. Since I have no drive shaft already I figured it shouldn't be a problem.

just watch your other clearances such as valve cover to M/C, hose lengths, headers to shock towers, etc.

Ewww yeah. That shock tower clearance would probably be a problem with the 351w in there.

I guess I will have to mock everything up and play with clearances. Yuck

I used regular 66 motor mounts and had to trim the tunnel a little bit. I used a jig saw with a metal cutting blade to open it up a bit. The shifter boot and console still fit fine.

You can buy a really nice jigsaw for the $225 it cost for the floating motor mounts. *S*

What part of the tunnel did you trim? The shifter opening?

Yes,

I'm running a B&M shifter on my T5 and it had a week bit if interference with the tunnel in the front of the opening. I just rounded it out enough to clear.

if you want to cut back from $225 for a jigsaw,
try one of these bad boys.....

rather expensive there, but i guess quality is better than here?

I have all the stuff to cut the metal, I just don't want to. I am going to just go ahead and splurge on the RM mounts, they look very solid.
