use an auto bellhousing?

Default use an auto bellhousing?

i picked up my t5 on Monday and need to decide what to do. i cant find a 6cl 200 3 spd bell housing anywhere. so im here looking for some advice. can i use my auto c4 bell housing and simply cut a hole for the clutch fork and then weld a support for the cable? or should i keep digging around for a 60s bell housing?? Thanks all.

No...the C4 bellhousing is part of the transmission. And even if you could, trying to manually place the clutch fork with the right geometry would be a disaster.

I may be incorrect, but I thought the 200 and 289/302 shared bolt patterns, meaning you could use a standard sbf bellhousing.

Another option is to use a T5 bellhousing from a fox body and convert to cable or hydraulic clutch.

following this thread because i will be converting my I6 to a 289 we just pcked up and wondered if the bell housing has to be changed or not on my 68

The 200 6cyl has a different bolt pattern than a 289. A 240 and 300 have the same as a 289 but they weren't put into mustangs. I agree with Starfury that trying to use a c4 housing would not be the way to go. I would try to adapted the t5 to the 200 belhousing if possible.

what about a late model truck bellhousing with a 300six?

then you would be set up on the tranny side for a hyd. clutch setup

uhm, c4 bell housing isnt one piece, thats the c6

I have the plate. the problem is where i bolt up to the engine.

Have you ever heard of someone adapting the t5 bellhousing for this?

300 six I think is a sbf bellhousing. It is way too big for the 200.

Oh...I stand corrected. Sorry, not much of an a/t guy

Looks like the solution is going to be finding a 6cyl bellhousing. You might talk to Modern Driveline and see what they recommend.
