Sounds like a problem I had when I first installed my 347, some differences are : Edelbrock Carb, stealth intake. The problem was a huge vacuum leak. I could get it to run at about 2000 rpm but it would not idle. I had the standard Ford 1" carb heat spacer with the vac port for the pcv hook up. I changed that to a 1" phenolic spacer with no vac port. Then I connected the pcv to the Edel carb. That took care of my no idle problem. The other problem I had at the time was it was overheating, but with the correction of the vacuum leak and being able to actually time it, the overheating went byby.
