Question 14 or 15 inch steel-styled wheels

I have a '65 with 215/60/14 BF Goodrich T/As, 1" lower in the front. Since the wheels are kind of rusty (and the tires old) I'm thinking of going with 15'' wheels and a slightly wider tire, but I'm not sure what to expect ride-wise.

Well I am running BF Goodrich 225's with 15 inch wheels. I also have the Shelby drop. I notice a definite improvement in handling. I think this is simply because more rubber is on the road. Remember, your braking ability is only as good as the amount of tire surface touching the road at any given time. Fourteens are more original, but look waaaay to tiny in my opinion.

I'd say go with 15" just for the larger variety of available tires for that size wheel.

the bfg radial tires are pretty hard, and makes a bumpier ride, but its not that bad, i guess it just depends on whos going to be driving it

I'm with the others. Fifteen inch wheels allow you to choose from a much wider selection of tires than fourteen inchers.

The OE KH brakes fit under 14's designed for disc brakes

The BFG T/As ride great IMO, I have the stock size 215-70-R14.
Ride has alot to do with the stiffness of the side wall.
You should try Contis, now that's a rough ride!
Just going to 15" won't change the ride. It might even improve if you go wider. You might start to notice a stiffer ride on a Mustang about 17 or 18".
Heck, the factory put 20" on my Dodge Magnum RT and it rides like it's on glass. (may have something to do with the Mercedes E-style suspension though)

Definitly go with the 15" rims. Like evryone said previosly, more tire options and look better as a whole:
