Thumbs down new 1968 coupe project

I just bought a 1968 coupe rolling shell with all good glass. It has very minor surface rust and the body is in excellent condition. I am thinking of starting with wheels and tires since the ones on it are dry rotted and mismatched. I also want to start on the suspension and work my way to the wiring after that. I picked out an engine but that is down the road. What do you guys think? Am I starting in the right area or should I concentrate somewhere else right now?

Suspension and Brake would be first in my opinion.

yeah do the suspension and brakes. the wheels as long as they hold air leave them alone. just call them maypops while your working on the car your gonna be spraying primer etc and they will just get over spray.

also say the project takes a few years then the tire you install could dry out and get flat spots etc and you might never even drive on them.

awesome, thanks for the help. Does anybody have any advice on which suspension setup is best and a good place to get it? I am trying to get high performance, good stuff for this project. I don't want just a restoration, I want a cherried out muscle car when this is all said and done.

ya as rmodel65 said....to a degree it matters on what you want to do to it. cherried out to one person it trash to another person. suspension for a big block is totally different for a small block...tho that would be a waste of a engine bay :-D
