Default Cylinder head volume for 83' 351w heads?

I need to know the head volume for a 83' 351w, to make sure I don't go to high on compression.

Also what is too high for pump gas?

Big. Very big. Don't run those. If you want better factory heads, GT40 heads essentially use 351W ports with small chambers.

I believe it to be 69cc. Can anyone confirm?

Why? What's wrong with your heads? The chambers in those 351W heads are huge and will drop your compression quite a bit.

I am getting the motor rebuild right now, and do not have the money for new heads.

I have these picked out to go with the heads later (60cc). Would a 8.6 compression rate be that gross for now?

Oh, you're actually running a 351W? 8.6:1 isn't horrible, but it's not good either. I can't say that those heads are 69cc, though. They may be more than that.

You decided to do with the Comp Cams Roller cam kit? My understanding is that the Roller cam will work better than a flat tappet cam at the lower CR.

Bump.

Would 8.6:1 make the car a terrible ride?
