For your continuing entertainment...
After using solvent and a toothbrush (my wifes) and rinsing well with a total of about 3/4 gallon of solvent, here's the progress:

I let all the solvent drain in to the pan, and drained it, and flushed with more solvent. The solvent that came out was red instead of clear. After a day to evaporate the solvent I will flush with oil and, and fill it up with oil and Marvel. Then I'll lube the cylinders with Mystery oil and crank it around by hand a few times. Repeat daily for three days. Saturday should be D-day. (fingers crossed)
For all you naysayers... If it doesn't work you can say "I told you so" but I've gotten enough encouragement to try it before I give up on it. I'll keep you posted.

Looks great! I never had any doubts. It is going to fire right up, blow blue smoke for a little while, and then settle down. It may have some leaks and the rings may be worn out, but these things are practically indestructable.

Your before and after pics are awesome! Good luck!

I have also heard that the sixes are indestructible.

I wouldn't dare think of starting the motor. who knows what could get cloged in your oil pump. I hate to say it but, its time to rebuild. I know u might be scared of going about it your self, but there are people to help you out. The best advice i can give to you is take a class. My local community college offers a engine machine class, were you can rebuild your own engine, you have all the tools you need to do it right and an instructor to guide you through it.

Looks great. And if all the heads were going to do was sit on a shelf and look pretty you'd be done. This motor needs to be removed and rebuilt. In order to persuade you, I suggest you ride down to the auto parts store and ask them if you can look at some "new" rockers, lifters, push rods and a head gasket. The next question out of your mouth should be, "How much and do you have everyhting in stock?" BTW, the bottom end has to be as bad as the valve assembly.

That looks great bud! Much nicer than mine were, I actually had pretty bad pitting up front.

I think your troubles were just from moisture getting in from the breather. This is what happens here in LA where there is high humidity. All of the oil drains out quick when the oils hot and leaves the top end fairly dry. The bottom end if fairly well sealed and I seriousley doubt you have this issue below.

Let us know and if you do have any oil pump problems they are only $30 but I doubt it because the screen keeps dangerous size particles from entering that will not bypass.
