Default Headers and Other Stuff

Hello all,
I am trying to plan the build for my 68 coupe. I am currently deployed to Iraq so the parts buying can begin. I have already contacted Opentracker for my front suspension needs and have the wheels already. What I am looking for advice on is some new engine mods. The car currently has a tired 289 in it that I am sure will need replacement at some point. What I would like to do is get some bolt on's that I can transfer to the next engine I purchase. I will probably go with a similar engine (289/302) in the future. I am thinking about a 500-600 cfm 4 barrel carb and intake setup (probably Edelbrock Performer) that would be interchangeable in the future. I would also like to order some headers and full exhaust that I can use. I am pretty set on the Flowmaster 50 series (too quiet of a neighborhood for the 40 series) with an X pipe and 3" tips out the back. So with that, I am looking for your recommendations. I don't want to break the bank on these mods but I want something that will perform well and not melt off all the paint under my hood. To make it easier here is a simple list for everyone to put your recommendations into:

Carb:
Intake:
Headers:
Other Recommendations:

My car is a daily driver and wont see much track use. My plan is a low and mean daily driver that I can take the off ramps at about twice the posted speed. Thanks in advance for all your inputs.

Semper Fi!

I would love to go with the stroker in the future! Just have to clear that one with the boss. I believe I would be able to use the same intake/carb/headers set up with a 347 as the 289. Am I correct? Havent really looked at it yet. If they would transfer that would just help with the future. Once I can get to that website (dotmil hours are in effect here in Iraq right now) I will check it out. Thanks for the reply!
