302 and 5 speed in '65?
hey everyone im new here. i just got a 65 coupe that was originally a v8 4 speed car. unfortunately its now a 6 cylinder auto. im starting my restoration soon and plan on doing a mild resto-mod. i was thinking of taking the 302 and t-5 5 speed transmission out of an 87-93 mustang and putting it in my car. i plan on replacing the fuel injection set up with a new manifold and carburetor. now i do not know if this is possible or what other modifications i may need to do to complete this. im aware i will probably have to get a custom driveshaft made as well as custom motor and tranny mounts. any information tips and insight is greatly appreciated guys and im very excited to join the mustang community. thank you.

Hello, Josh, where are you in CT?
Everything is a bolt in except the cable clutch. You will need to either adapt the stock set up or convert the pedal by welding on a quadrant from mustangsteve or some other source. What you are proposing is not hard at all, you mjust need to do some research. Who put a 6 cylinder in a V8 car?

never heard of that before :-)
but if the car was a V8 then you should already have the rearaxle, spindles, drums and everything you need if that's all stock (i guess you have 5 lug wheels still)
The springs in the front might have been changed to lighter ones as the 6 cyl engine is much lighter.
But yes, It should all bolt in. I am just finishing up a conversion 302 and T5 in a 64 mustang that was _originally_ a 6 cylinder. So i had to replace the full driveline. you shouldn't have that bother
