Default Gasket Material for Taillights, Chrome

What do you guys use to replace the sticky dough like material that was used in the tailights bolts washers on your mustang. I have a 72 but I am sure that the black dough like product was used on several years of the mustang. Also what do you use for headliner padding on the 71-73. I am putting her back together and these are the main holdups. Thanks

It could be 3M strip caulk. i'm not sure though. This is what I used on my tail lights.

the bedding and glazing never gets hard that what seals the windsheild and rear window seals on cars with gaskets like 65-68 its also used for the water shield behind door panels etc its

you could use the strip caulk too, but i like the bedding cause its easy to use and works in a lot of different places

Yep the strip calk was what I was looking for. Thanks. Now what do you guys recommend to use as a modern pad under the headliner and under the rear window area. Thanks

if you're looking fro rubbery/doughy sealant (i haven't seen that in my taillights) you can always use the rubber strips that modern cars have under their fenders. You should get a full meter for a few bob.
sincde I don't know the english name for it, it might well be what rmodel is talking about. we simply called it chewing gum

Yeah I used the stuff in the plants back in the day and we called it donkey dick because it came in big rolls and looked like a black donkey dick.
