Default Is this a safe jack support location?

If I place a jack stand at the white arrow is that acceptable? Not sure if it was designed to support weight...

Yes, I use the front crossmember because it is safe.

No. It won't damage the car, but it may damage you when the car slips sideways off the stand and crushes you.

Put jack stands under the frame rails

I would use only the frame rails.

What do you guys do to keep the jack from scratching up your car? Wood is unwieldy kind of, and I would like to preserve my undercoating etc.

What about spraying the rubbery bed liner on the jacks/jackstands themselves???

I use the cross member to jack up car and then put stands on both frame rails. Been doing this for quite awhile with no problems.

I use this crossmember to jack the car up using an old 10" buffing pad on the jack. The pad is soft and fairly durable and won't scratch. Just be carefull when lining it up so you don't jack on a $400 power steering controll valve (don't ask).
