Talking It Started!!!

Today I filled the fluids and added with one quart of ATF in the oil. Cranked the engine for about 30 seconds with no plugs in to flush the gas lines again. Once I had clean gas coming from the line before the filter, I put in plugs, connected fuel line and cranked it again.

The engine caught after about five seconds, but the valves were really loud, and the idle was way high. I let it run high for about five mins to clear it out and shut it down, checked for leaks and ran it again for ten more before slowing down the idle. After ten minutes it quieted down and sounds like a different engine. I ran it for 30 more minutes, and temp and oil pressure stayed good. It's not purring but it doesn't sound bad. There's still some smoke , but nothing like the first five minutes! http://s448.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=P3051031.flv

Congratulations on getting it started, that's amazing that it sat for 18 years and you got it started right up without having to do any real major work on it. Do you have any major plans for it in the near future?
