Default 289 to 302

Hey guys, hopefully in the next month or two ill be buying a rebuilt 302 to replace my tired old 289. I know basically everything is the same in the 289 and 302 so my question is what else will I need in order to do this swap. Its going to be a 302 long block

I already have:
new edelbrock 600cfm carb
edelbrock performer intake
2 1/4inch exhaust

any other ideas? theres a C4 transmission in the car too

You'll probably need to pull the timing cover, oil pan, and front accessories from your current motor, but everything else should bolt right up.

Keep the 289, though, just in case you decide to get rid of the car. A future owner may want it.

Kinda depends on what kind of 302 you get. If it's a later model (post-84, iirc), you'll need a 50oz imbalance balancer and flex-plate. If it's an earlier model, the ones on your block will be fine.

You may consider changing torque converters for performance while you're in there, but it's not required.

You'll definitely want a torque converter to match to that cam
