Default How much is my '68 worth?

Hey guys, unfortunately I'm considering selling my '68 but I really don't know what I can get for it and was hoping you guys could help me out. First off, it was an original straight 6. Now has a 390 with interceptor headers, new disk brakes, new flowmaster exhaust, 411 posi rear. The bad part is it's not running. There is a crack on the transmission housing keeping the starter from being mounted correctly. I have a new housing for the C6, just haven't had the time to take it apart.

Here's pictures I took today.

Now the the bad parts of this car.

Rust on the fenders

Someone keyed the passenger side

Interior needs some help.....

Any comments are appreciated. If I can get enough for it as-is then I will sell, if not I'll put another thousand into it to make it drivable and cleaner. Suggestions?

Sorry to hear you are selling. The headliner isn't so hard to change and it would make the interior look so much better. You may need to put a little contact cement front and back because you won't pull the glass.

I would think a running car will get you much more than a car that you say will run after its fixed. I would fix it or if you don't have the time, pay someone to do it.

All of our cars are worth less than two years ago because of the economy. I would think a non-running car would have stiff competition in the market given the price of restored cars on Barrett Jackson and in the paper. Take a look at NADA classic. They will give you a high, low, and average price for you car. I would think you car would fall into the low category in its current state.

Just to keep dust and debris out. My main focus is getting the transmission issue worked out.

This time last year a guy offered me 6k for it, and that was before I but about 5k in parts into it last summer.

Thanks for the comments so far. I wasn't expecting to get much in it's current condition, I just needed conformation from guys who would know.

Look at the completed listings on ebay, that will give you an idea of what it would bring. I would say you'd be lucky to get $3-4k. I've seen mustangs in similar shape go for much less even. I'm not trying to insult your car or anything but coupes just dont bring much money. There is not really anything you can do to it to get a big return in selling it. I've seen fully restored coupes in near perfect condition bring less than $15k.

Have to agree with everyone here. I'd say realistically you should be looking for 2500. Fixing the trany, installing valve cover filters, etc add up to help you. A drivable, cleaned up car is always better then one thats DOA.

Unless your really hard up and need the cash I'd park & keep it. This is a very bad time to sell classic cars due to the economy and chances are your not gonna get what you want for it.

I'd offer $3500 on it.
